Named for Alvar Aalto, this theme is a modern marvel, an architecture theme inspired by the work of one of the best mid century modern architects to ever work.
This is Aalto, a theme inspired by the work of the famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. Not to be confused with the Aalto Lounge, which is a place I’ve been a time or two. Nope, this is a great looking theme for architects though. The thing about mid century design, there’s nothing extra in it, it’s everything you need and nothing you don’t need. That’s what makes it so successful over the years, there’s nothing that can get dated. You strip all the junk away and you’re left with the essence of what makes the design good or interesting.
That’s the theory anyway.
Some folks find that mid century design is too cold, too distant, but I think it’s great.
I’m not going to be able to do my full review thing here with quotes from folks who have purchased this Aalto theme, because it’s not even been out a full day as I’m reviewing this. (It has sold twice already in that time though, haha!) People do love their minimalist themes.
So, I’ll have to do something else to tread water here. Aalto is by Edge Themes, a team of designers and developers who have created over 50 items for ThemeForest, so it’s pretty clear they know their way around WordPress. Yep, they’re a Power Elite designer and they don’t just give that title away, you’ve got to sell a ton of stuff to make that happen. A lot of their themes are about architecture, though you may remember I reviewed another of their themes called Pxlz a few weeks ago. (Wow, I picked a winner reviewing that one, Pxlz’s already sold 100 times in just around 20 days, that’s amazing!)
A simple layout doesn’t have to be boring and the typography in Crush helps make sure that’s the case here. Oh yeah, that grid layout certainly helps, it’s a fun approach to displaying any visual content.
Crush is a simple theme, it’s a minimalist and beautiful template too, but that’s not all that there is to know about Crush. Let’s take a deeper look at this template?
Highly customizable, responsive and robust, Crush is perfect for freelancers, photographers, graphic designers, musicians and creative agencies. All features are thoughtfully implemented to make your experience seamless, not just with the theme but with WordPress itself.
With over 2200 sales so far, to go along with a really rock-solid rating of 4.70 on ThemeForest, Crush is a really popular and beloved WordPress theme. With Crush, you get live updates to your site when you make a change, thanks to the Live WordPress Theme Customizer. There are tons of online documentation to help you get started with this responsive and retina ready template. Fixed and fluid layouts are both at your fingertips, which is nice. Sometimes, some people may prefer fixed width layouts but for most purposes, the dynamic fluid layouts is what you’re going to want to choose.
There are unlimited, filterable portfolio pages, as well as several post formats, like image galleries, audio and video post types, tons of typography choices, one click demo data import, clean and commented code and a whole lot more. This Crush theme is a very good value and I think you’re going to enjoy it quite a bit.
