Created by ThemeShift, this is Epicurean, a wonderful theme for food blogs and bloggers who want a delicious looking website at a very reasonable price. If you’d like nothing more than to share your love of food with readers from all over the world, Epicurean is a great selection. Recipes, reviews, it really doesn’t matter what you’re blogging about, ThemeShift’s Epicurean theme is a great looking theme to use for that purpose. Thanks to Epicurean’s food focused images, clean layouts and attractive frame for your content, building your website’s social media campaign will be a snap.
With Epicurean, you can create any sort of layout you want to create, since you’re in charge of post formats, visual styles and more. There are three homepage layouts to get you started with Epicurean. The Epicurean WordPress theme also allows you to create posts in any one of nine different formats. Sharing images, videos, audio and image galleries are all simple to manage.
So, what kinds of customizations can you get with Epicurean? Tons! And you’ll never need to touch a line of code if you don’t want to. While the typography is really attractive right out of the box, it may not be your cup of tea. Switch to something else, it couldn’t be easier to accomplish. Changes occur in real time too with the live customizer, so you can see if you like the changes you’ve made without having to reload the website.
Since Epicurean is a recipe blog theme first and foremost, it’s nice to see full integration with what I believe is one of the best recipe plugins, WP Ultimate Recipe. That means you’ll be showcasing all kinds of recipes, from simple to highly detailed, in a very stylish and flexible manner. Don’t waste your time having to re-format stuff as you create a new recipe, the built in templates make it easy to post a ton of recipes in short order.
This is BrightFuture, a new WordPress out in the first week of November, 2017. It’s kind of familiar looking to be honest, I just reviewed a theme yesterday that has a very, very similar look. Penelope. They’re really both similar, but then again, there are a lot of themes that look vaguely like both Penelope and BrightFuture, including some of our free themes like Quartz and Silverbow. But that’s what makes a horse race, little differences.
What’s to like about BrightFuture? Well, I think the design is great. It’s clean, it’s professional, trendy right now. On fleek as the kids say. Or used to say? No clue. I love the Raleway font anyway, I’m a sucker for it and I think the headings being done in Raleway is a nice touch. This one column with sidebar thing is really popular right now. The three images at the top, equally popular. There are pre-made about, contact and archive pages, which can be helpful for some. While it’s not a video theme per sé, it does offer the ability to embed or link videos, which can be helpful.
Simple, to the point, familiar but with a touch of new, novel flair.
I got a bright future in sales. Actually, strike that, don’t listen to me. BrightFuture doesn’t have eCommerce capability as of this writing.
BrightFuture’s creator, Wope Themes, claims that Bright Future it going to be an SEO powerhouse, thanks to their proprietary framework and built in SEO practices. I’m not sure it’s quite up to Genesis level, but it appears that the theme itself is fairly lightweight.
BrightFuture (not sure if it’s a camel case title or actually Bright Future?) is responsive, so that should help with ranking, or at least not hurt it. Google can be fickle, but responsive sites do give a slight bump to rankings, so it’s worth noting. Plus, responsive sites just look better. Nothing worse than a static site on a mobile device.
Bright Future is compatible with All In One SEO or Yoast, if you prefer that route. They say the pages load fast but then again, a lot of sites make that claim. You know who doesn’t lie? GTMetrix.
Let’s get to the bottom of this mystery.
Bright Future is fast, but not blazingly fast. Why they didn’t set up browser cache, I’ll never know.
PageSpeed isn’t incredible either, but that’s because they didn’t leverage browser caching and they haven’t even optimized images. I get it for a demo site, you might not want to overoptimize your images, but that’s going to lead to a pretty bad score. In the real world, you’d definitely have a browser cache set up and your images would be somewhat optimized. So, I’ll say it’s probably fairly fast, but not incredible. Maybe the next update, we’ll learn more.
Okay, so I did their Pingdom score too. Much better, but they needed to leverage browser caching again.
Much better score from Pingdom. Faster than many. Most even.
So, what else is going on with this theme? Let’s have a peek at some of the features BrightFuture offers.
Shortcodes and post types and widgets, Oh my!
Like everybody does, Bright Future has all those things. But, at least it has them. That’s a good thing. Look at all the old classics here.
Custom List Shortcodes
Info Box Shortcodes
Social Icons Shortcodes
Nine Post Type Support
Included many Useful Widgets
And then there are the options, which are plentiful and appear to be pretty standard and easy to use.
Advance Theme Options

Uploading your site favicon
Uploading the footer logo and retina footer logo easily.
Update your copyright
Footer callout options
Uploading your header image on homepage

8 predefined sidebars and unlimited sidebars for pages.
12 predefined color schemes and unlimited color schemes to fit any brands!
600+ Google font options!

show/hide social buttons.
Social header options
So yeah, that’s pretty much it. The design is nice, it does load up fast and it’s pretty simple to customize this theme. I like that it’s not one of these themes that uses Visual Composer as a crutch. Don’t get me wrong, there are some great drag and drop themes out there, but you don’t need to use VC for literally everything you do, do you? Some do. I don’t.
So, there it is. Let us know what you think of Bright Future. If you use it, we’d love to see what your site looks like so drop us a line.

This is Tabor, an ultra simple, fast loading, classically minimalist WordPress blog theme from ThemeBeans. First glance shows you this is a theme that isn’t interested in a bunch of extra junk on the page, it’s about as stripped down as you can get. It supports a lot of plugins and addons that people really love. Stuff like Yoast SEO, Optin Monster, Medium, MailChimp, MonsterInsights and more. That helps keep this theme from falling into the territory of ‘too bare bones to use’.
I’ll let the theme’s creator do the next part of the intro.
Tabor was built out of a real need. I needed a super-fast, highly-optimized, professional WordPress theme to help share my words and grow my audience. Unfortunately, those are few and far between.
That’s Rich Tabor of Theme Beans. He needed a new website, so he went and created this particular theme for his WordPress blog. Now, you can have a straight up clone of it if you want to. Pretty generous. Or crazy, I’m not sure which.
Well, let’s see if he got what he wanted, is this theme really as fast as he claims?
Well, yeah, that’s really fast. A tidy 30 requests, loads in around 2 seconds with a relatively small 1.5mb size. Of course, all that depends on how you set your site up and what images you choose, but it does at least have the potential to be really, really fast. Some themes can’t say that.
Here’s another good look at a sample post. So damned simple, why didn’t I think of that! Man, that’s a minimalist theme to be sure. For more minimalist themes, check out our collection.
So, it’s a very simple, fast loading blog. They say this blog is strictly meant for writers, so it’s a blogger’s blog, basically. What’s the catch? Well, if you actually want more than one post style, you’re going to have to code that yourself. Sure, they offer video post types. Widgets? Well, they’re handled a little differently in this theme. I’ll let Rich Tabor explain again.
I don’t bundle widgets in the theme files. What if you decide to switch themes? Your widget data is gone. Poof. I have added custom styling for OptinMonster and MailChimp for WordPress. All default widgets look great. Add widgets to the single post sidebar widget area, and you’ll find a sidebar added to the page. The sidebar layout is not option-based, it’s contextual.
So maybe that’s not so bad. But another issue, this bad boy is going to run you $69, at least at the time of this writing. That’s an awful lot of money. Then again, there’s zero bloat in this theme. It really does load fast. It does look good, as long as it suits your taste that is.
I guess I’m asking, is it too simple for some people? I’d say the answer to that is, absolutely.
It’s not a theme that’s for everybody but for those who need the simplest, functional and fast loading theme they can find, this could be it. A little bragging time here, our Silverbow theme loads damn fast too. Check it out if you want another free option with a fast load time and minimal style.
Schema Markup Ready
MailChimp for WordPress Support
Fine-tuned WYSIWYG WordPress writing experience
Showcase videos using the Video Post Format
Safe & Secure
Built-in social sharing components
Built-in inline OptinMonster opt-in styling
That’s all for now. Stay tuned for more great WordPress themes.
